Introduction to the Russian Literature
Level: students of all levels are welcome.
Time: Tuesday 7 p.m. – 8.20 p.m. (except Tuesdays when Russian Cinema Club is screening a film)
Duration of the course: 8 classes.
During 8 classes we will discuss:

Alexander Pushkin – “our everything”. Poems, “Eugene Onegin” – encyclopedia of Russian life style, (1833).

Ivan Goncharov, “ Oblomov” , (1849).

Ivan Turgenev, “Fathers and Sons” , (1862).

Fyodor Dostoevsky, “Crime and Punishment” , (1866).

Leo Tolstoy, “War and Peace”, (1869).

Mikhail Bulgakov, “The Master and Margarita”, (1936).

The Poets of Silver Age (Esenin, Mayakovsky, Akhmatova).

Boris Pasternak,“Doctor Zhivago” , (1956).
Each meeting includes
-
information about the author and his creative work,
-
reading of passages from the work of the lesson in original language with translation and comment,
-
watching the episode from the film adaptation.
Participation fee: free of charge
Each workshop is designed as a separate class, so you can join any of them not attending others.
Venue: classroom of the Russian Language Center (B2, 1/F, Sincere Insurance Building, 4-6 Hennessy Road, Wanchai).
