Russian Language Day in Hong Kong

On the 8 of May RLC celebrated the 3rd Russian Language Day. This event is organized with support from the Orthodox Brotherhood of Apostles Saints Peter and Paul and the Council of Russian Compatriots in Hong Kong and Macau. The guest of honor was Sergei Gritsai, General Counsel of Russian Federation in Hong Kong and Macau. The representatives of Russian Center in Macau also took part in the celebration.

The director of RLC, Archpriest Dionisy Pozdnyaev, said that the celebration of Russian language day in Hong Kong becomes a tradition and event important not only to Russian speaking community, but also for those people who learns Russian and is interested in Russian culture.

This year the party was divided into two parts. The first part for compatriots was dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic war. Those who learn Russian language were welcome to the second part of the holiday which was dedicated to the works of the great Russian writer Anton Chekhov whose 150th anniversary is celebrated this year.
